"Les Hauts de Gordes", a Luxury Bastide in Luberon
The Iconic.house collection welcomes its 4th villa "Les Hauts de Gordes" located in Gordes (Luberon, France), voted most beautiful village in the world by travel+leisure magazine.
The most beautiful village in the world?
And it's perfect timing, because that's where we've decided to open our fourth iconic.house.
The most beautiful village in the world, I really don't know - it's not me saying it, it's the American magazine Travel+Leisure - but one of the most beautiful places I know, without a doubt.
It's this spot in the Upper Luberon, near the Avignon train station, that my brother Robin Michel and I have set our sights on for this new opus.
As children, we lived less than an hour away and used to take visiting friends there. Every time, and it's always the same surprise, you take the secondary road that starts to rise after the little village of Les Bories and suddenly…
…Suddenly, at the end of the bend, the village of Gordes comes into view, splendid, majestic, a cluster of old houses clinging to the mountain, topped by a magnificent château.
It was the view that seduced us when we first discovered the place. Les Hauts de Gordes is aptly named, situated in the eponymous commune on the small road leading to the renowned Sénanque abbey, the house offers a commanding view over the valley and the village of Gordes.
For the fourth time, our Choc team, Valentin Caro and his construction crews, set to work again, renovating a neglected villa from top to bottom.
The estate covers 4 hectares and 450m2 of living space, with 7 en-suite bedrooms for 18 guests. The main bastide houses 4 en-suite bedrooms, a huge living room that spills out under a glass roof, and a professional kitchen. The pool house offers two additional bedrooms, a spa, a gym and a summer kitchen that opens onto a huge swimming pool. Just above, a bastide annex houses an independent family room. Just ahead is an outdoor cinema, and to the right a children's play area.
Benjamin Moricelly, a childhood friend, took care of the landscaping, turning the exterior into a magnificent setting planted with local species.
Jeremie du Chaffaut was called in for the interior design and decoration, enhancing the space with his Provençal tastes and furniture. He drew inspiration from local techniques, working with local craftsmen to select materials ranging from terracotta floors to red bricks for the swimming pool and colorful glazed tiles for the kitchen.
Joséphine Fossey and her team worked around kinetic art to make this place a tribute to great artists like Vasarely, who found Gordes both a subject of inspiration and a welcoming land.
The painted sheet metal entrance gate by artist Gaultier Rimbaud-Joffard sets the tone, followed by Alex Palenski silver-glinted mobile, which makes the light dance among the lavender.
The huge swimming pool designed by Belgian artist Robin Versmeersh, the box-tree bead curtain by Amelie Ricard, the Miroir sculpture by Lebanese artist Charles Kapakian and the coffee-table orientation tables by Sonia Rinaldi give us a glimpse of the general spirit.
It's Odile who will welcome you to this dream location and help you discover the secrets of the Luberon.
And as in all our homes, a small electric Kate car is available for our guests.
Anthony, who we can't mention enough, took care of the Multimedia part with dual Starlink and fiber connection to keep you connected.
Don't wait any longer and come and discover this paradise for a unique family stay, a seminar or an incredible event.
You won't be disappointed, we've given it our all :)
